Small space living certainly has its challenges, but with the right preparation, it’s quite achievable and the decluttering process is quite liberating.
Somewhere, amidst the calmness and splendour of Sowerby Bridge Basin, the waters of the Rochdale Canal & Calder & Hebble Navigation meet, quietly signalling the start of a trip even higher into the Pennines than we’d previously encountered.
I have, after 8 years of useless clutter, decided to go Scandi style and borrow their minimalist outlook. However, I’d still like to have an inviting narrowboat interior décor – That means a careful rummage round shops such as Home Bargains, Dunelm, The Range, Matalan and B&M.
Organised jointly by Lichfield & Hatherton Canals Restoration Trust and Lichfield Cruising Club, this fantastic event is back after a few years away. The event takes place at Huddlesford Junction and is a biennial gathering of historic boats, floating traders, private boats and classic vehicles. As of the 3rd September, the event was fully boked….

The highs and lows, the euphoria and my tears when penalties against Chelsea Academy were looming have all led to this moment…. which….
3 months after putting a deposit on a new click clack amazin’ sofabed for the boat, we finally made arrangements to collect and fit it. Spurred on by our new space saving cupboard, we’d got greedy for space and wanted a more comfortable sitting/sleeping arrangement to boot. We drove up yesterday, straight to Bradford to….
Waking up in Huddersfield has its advantages – Not least of which is the large Sainsbury’s just opposite.
Being in such close proximity to the Pennines, always means that the weather is subject to rapid change. From last night’s early evening cruise in the sunshine and my ramblings about our efforts to stay cool in the baking sun, we woke to the sort of drizzle that comes and goes as the clouds drift….
