One of our favourite mooring spots on the New Junction, just down from Sykehouses Lock – Indeed the lock lights are visible from our moorings.

It’s such a shame that the oak tree has been cut down, I’ve never understood why and can only assume that it’s because the roots were undermining the piling or similar issue.

Our routine as we headed back to the marina was to stop at Bramwith facilities for the unescapable toilet emptying and rubbish disposal etc, which left us with a gentle cruise back to Blue Water in Thorne. Our Oak Tree Mooring was just the right distance from Bramwith facilities.

As you can see from the below images, the mooring was perfect and the perfect subject for my first #ThrowbackThursday blog post.
